Een ware revolutie: hoe ongesteldheid eindelijk mainstream wordt
Being a woman, laughing man. Yet we all have to believe it and every month it is time to menstruate again. Fortunately, in 2017 we are in the middle of a revolution around menstruation. Let that make it all just a little bit more fun.
Education
Through better education around menstruation, girls who are getting their period for the first time can better understand what is actually happening in their bodies, every month.
A good example of this is Clue and we hope that our own My First Yoni booklet will also contribute to more knowledge about our favorite subject. Because the more knowledge, the better it becomes discussable.
New products, new world
Due to the growing awareness of what exactly is in products such as tampons and sanitary towels, many new products have recently come onto the market.
Products such as absorbent underwear, the re-emergence of the mooncup, and organic cotton tampons and sanitary towels offer an alternative. Healthy for nature and for yourself. Not entirely unimportant.
Menstrual activism
Pioneers in the fight to make menstruation a topic of discussion include Gandhi and Rupi Kaur.
Gandhi decided to run a marathon while menstruating and without protection , and Rupi Kaur took her place by making a photo series in which she depicted her period. She posted the photo on Instagram, who then deleted it. This caused quite a stir.
Both actions have sparked discussion about menstruation, because having a period is something very normal and should not really cause a stir.
Blood normal
Menstruation has been a topic that was kept under wraps for a long time, but hey, we all menstruate and that’s perfectly normal. Don’t you think so?
That’s what Libresse thought too and they started the Blood normal campaign, with the aim of removing the taboo around menstruation. We love that.
Because how incredibly weird is it that we are ashamed to ask someone for a tampon? That menstrual blood should not be seen? That we still use blue liquids to indicate the absorbency of sanitary towels and tampons? That menstruation is only a woman’s thing?
A super good initiative by Libresse to bring that to light. That’s why we couldn’t resist sharing this campaign with you. Check it out here:

The cycle story
Having your period is actually really cool, because how special is it that your body starts this cycle again every month? That’s why we created this visual party last year in collaboration with Ine & Sanne to celebrate the monthly cycle:
New products, more awareness and a different way of looking at menstruation. Yoni hopes to contribute to this revolution. There is still a lot to achieve, but we are on our way. Oh baby, join the revolution.
